Whether he performs solo or with his band, Sam Chase goes by The Sam Chase. When your last name looks like a verb, you can do such things.
The Sam Chase will have a rare solo performance at 9 p.m. Thursday, July 6, at The Saint in midtown Reno. Greg Gilmore and Gina Rose each will also perform solo. Tickets are $6 in advance or $8 at the door.
The San Francisco artist typically plays with his band, aptly named The Untraditional.
“The Sam Chase has a voice like a nun on the lam with a mouthful of cigarettes and curse words in a lonely bar, drunkenly dancing next to a broken jukebox,” the band website bio reads. “His songs are scribbled, not written, on lipstick and sweat stained motel bedsheets because he like the way the ink bleeds.”
The Sam Chase has performed at High Sierra Music Festival, Outside Lands, Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival, Kate Wolf Music Festival and many other West Coast festivals and events. He has been voted Best Songwriter in the SF Bay Guardian.
