The Village at Squaw Valley is paying tribute to man – and woman’s – best friend with the 8th annual Peaks and Paws Festival this weekend.
Dogs and their masters can enjoy two days of live music, delicious food, and wine and beer tasting (people only!) amid Squaw Valley’s stunning mountain setting. The event runs form 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, June 17-18.
The festival also includes a dog-friendly guided hike up the mountain, an array of specialty product pet vendors and a dock jumping competition with splash dogs. All of the proceeds from the festival will benefit the Humane Society of Truckee-Tahoe.
Hike With Your Dog: Hike up under the Red Dog lift, along the base of the Fingers to a hidden swimming hole for the pups! Check-in: 10:45 a.m. Hike Starts: 11 a.m. Meet at the Squaw Dog Store in the Village. Note: 2-3 hour hike, moderately strenuous with elevation gain. Please be prepared and bring water for both your dog and yourself.
Splash Dogs Dock Jumping Competition: Show off your dog’s leaping and swimming skills at the Splash Dogs Dock Jumping Competition! $25 to participate.
