Leftover Salmon closes 2017 with Crystal Bay Casino shows

Leftover Salmon
Leftover Salmon returns to the Crystal Bay Casino’s Crown Room on Dec. 30-31.

This band runs at Lake Tahoe more consistently than the Kokanee.

For the third-straight year, Leftover Salmon will play on consecutive nights around the start of the new year. The Americana-jam band from Colorado will perform in the Crystal Bay Casino’s Crown Room on Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 30-31. The Dead Winter Carpenters will open the first night and for the second-straight year the Mother Hips will open the second night. Both shows start at 8 p.m. Tickets on the first night are $30 in advance and $35 on the day of the show. Tickets for the New Year’s Eve show are $50.

Leftover Salmon played at Crystal Bay Dec. 28-29, 2016 and Jan. 1-2, 2016. It also had a two-night run in April 2015.

Devildog Productions also announced today that Big Head Todd & The Monsters will perform in the Crown Room on Sunday, Dec. 17. Tickets are $28 in advance or $33 on the day of the show.

Tickets for all for the shows just announced will go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 6.

The band formed in Boulder when members of the Salmon Heads and Left Hand String Band coalesced. Leftover Salmon’s high-spirited live shows led to a national following. The group went on hiatus after original bassist Mark Vann passed away in 2002 following a fight with cancer. It reformed after a series of reunion tours in 2007 and 2008.

Two players have been with the band all 27 years — guitarist Vince Herman and mandolin and fiddle player Drew Emmitt. Greg Garrison has been the bassist since 2000. Andy Thorn plays banjo, Alwyn Robinson drums and Erik Deutsch, the newest member, plays keyboards.

Tahoe Onstage
Big Head Todd will be in Tahoe on Sunday, Dec. 17.
