Papa Roach
Papa Roach has been added to Hard Rock’s Amplified Summer Music Series. It will appear on Saturday, Aug. 11.

Concertgoers should not be confused: Everlast is hip-hop and Everclear is rock. Both will appear at the inaugural Amplified Summer Music series at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Lake Tahoe. The third headliner named to the series, Papa Roach, is hard rock with a dash of rap.

Papa Roach will before with a special guest to be announced on Saturday, Aug. 11. Tickets go on sale Friday, May 11.

There will be at least four shows at the Hard Rock Outdoor Amphitheater, which will feature bleachers and a large general admission pit area in front of the stage on the west side of the property. The capacity will vary from 4,000 to 6,000.

Alt-Rock Reload — with the bands Everclear, Fuel, Marcy Playground, Local H and Oleander — opened the series on July 7.

Ice Cube, Everlast and Mix Master Mike will hip-hop onstage Saturday, Aug. 4.

“We’re excited to launch our own summer music series to support the excitement and musical influences that the Hard Rock brings to the Lake Tahoe market,” said Alisa Mirabal, the vice president of sales and marketing.

“We’re thrilled about the eclectic and fun lineup we’re building, and we will be announcing more shows leading up to Labor Day.”

Papa Roach released its ninth album, “Crooked Teeth,” last year. A track from the album, “Born For Greatness,” is the theme song for WWE Raw.

“The collection of songs was really about bookending everything that we’ve done prior to this album and reintroducing Papa Roach to people who didn’t realize the depth that we have,” drummer Tony Palermo said.

The band from Vacaville has toured with Eminem and Marilyn Manson and was influenced by Social Distortion and Faith No More.

The Alt-Rock Reload will feature the entire Summerland Tour lineup, created by Everclear’s Art Alexakis for alternative rock fans. It has been named one of the “10 Hottest Summer Package Tours” by Rolling Stone magazine. Everclear is the recurring headliner of Summerland, which includes a mix of ’90s alternative rock alongside acoustic-based additions Marcy Playground and Local H.

Oleander, which played at Hard Rock’s indoor showroom Vinyl a year ago, was added to the lineup for the Tahoe show. The band had number of radio hit songs in the late 1990s and early 2000s. Two members live in Los Angeles and three in Sacramento, including drummer Steve Brown, who also plays with Reno-based Greg Golden Band.

Ice Cube is a pioneer in gangster rap with N.W.A, which formed in 1986 and included Dr. Dre and MC Ren. Having sold more than 10 million albums as a solo artist, Ice Cube is back to work on his 10th studio album, “Everythangs Corrupt.”

“Whether you’re making music or you’re making a movie, you have to be great and make it memorable,” Ice Cube said in a press statement.

He’s appeared in numerous movies and television shows, has his own clothing line, Solo by Cube, and last year founded BIG3, a 3-on-3 professional basketball league.

Everlast is the lead singer on one of hip-hop’s most ubiquitous songs, “Jump Around,” which he recorded when he was a member of House of Pain. The show’s opener, Mix Master Mike, was a member of the Beastie Boys.

Hard Rock Communications Manager Brandie Warr said another concert announcement will be made as soon as next week.
