Prayers answered, VTA gathers musical forces at June Lake

Yo Vinny — VTA is on the way to June Lake’s T-Bar Social Club.

VTA — Vincenzo Thomas Amato — brought the goods to June Lake even before he takes the stage at T-Bar Social Club Saturday night. His “Pray for Snow” has already been answered. To celebrate, Amato, known to collaborate, is bringing an all-star band to the party.

John “Wet Daddy” Steward on drums from Fishbone.

Jay O’Keefe on guitar from The Back of the Hand All Stars.

Robbie Wheeler on bass from The Tahoe Tribe and Lavish Green.

Seth Hall on sax from the Tahoe Tribe and Lavish Green.

The music starts at 9 p.m. VTA and friends will perform alternative, soulful, funk, rock and jam tunes mixing up originals and twists on epic covers. “Timeless mountain music for the soul” is how Amato describes his craft.

“Who’s down for a proper snow party?” he asks en route from Los Angeles to a meetup at Mammoth.

Amato was born in Los Angeles and raised in Reno and Lake Tahoe. He moved back to Los Angeles in 1996 and attended Musicians Institute in Hollywood, then founded the funk/rock/jam band SUPER J.  The band played many local clubs and festivals on the West Coast for seven years.  In 2003 He branched out on his own to embark on his solo project: VTA

He has opened and performed with some of the most prominent bands in the music industry: Robby Krieger of The Doors, The Samples, Fishbone, Billy Idol, Slightly Stoopid, Pepper, Peter Cornel, Rashawn Ross of the Dave Matthews Band, Long Beach Dub Allstars, Stars, Pato Banton, Anuhea , Skillinja, Josh Heinrichs, Marlon Asher, Kyle Smith, LAW, The Back of The Hand Allstars… The list goes on.
