The Fourth of July weekend in South Shore is kicking off with a bang on Saturday, July 3, as local band the Residents perform in the Guitar Plaza at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Lake Tahoe.
The music starts at 7 p.m. with a fireworks display at 9:15. A VIP section for the event is already sold out, but music fans are welcome to come join the fun in the plaza.
The Residents play a variety of cover tunes mixed in with original songs by various band members. The group was formed in late 2020 by Ted Kennedy (lead vocals, acoustic guitar), and includes Sean Hodge (guitar, vocals), Thomas Brandolino (guitar, bass), Tommy Ciccone (bass, vocals), Jon Sills (electric cello), Randy Cantor (keys), Josh Sweigert (mandolin, vocals), Tanner Morgan (drums), Gentry Monasmith (percussion, drums), and Willie Twumasi (percussion).
“The Residents is a band made up of the full dynamic of personalities and types of people that inhabit Tahoe,” Hodge said. “We’ve come together to provide music of all types for the local community and for the tourists that come into town.”
The band offers up a full plate of entertainment, including beloved songs by a wide variety of artists, shared and group vocal performances, and a bevy of solos by the group’s instrumentalists. Any given Residents show also features one or more guest performances by talented local musicians, such as Jeff Connor, Miranda Love, and many more.
“We throw a really fun party and we have a great time doing it,” Hodge said. “I think it’s really worth coming to check us out.”
