Tracorum, Black Star Safari in Lakeview Loft Friday

A four-piece rock San Francisco rock band, Tracorum, which headlined Thursday’s Live at Lakeview, has another South Shore show tonight, Friday, July 11, in the Lakeview Loft, located behind Dart Discount Liquor in Stateline.

This will be the second recent Pet Projekts Presents show in the venue which overlooks Edgewood Golf Course.

Songwriter-keyboardist Fletcher Nielsen and guitarist Derek Brooker are the band’s mainstays. South African Ian Herman, who has played with Paul Simon, Mickey Hart, Sting and Hugh Masekela, plays drums. The newest member of the band is bassist Mark Murphy, who plays with Stu Allen and formerly with Izabella.

“We play a lot of originals and have strong vocals but we also like to open it up and jam a little bit,” Nielsen told Tahoe Onstage. “We try to provide a very eclectic musical journey when we play.”

The band touches on southern sock, soul, Americana, R&B.

“It’s rock and roll at the end of the day,” Nielsen said. “It’s a definite feel good, piano infused music.”

Since 2006 it has released three albums: “Rock n Soul,” “The Lesson” and “Tricked.”
Tracorum has played the Crystal Bay Casino about 10 times, both the Red and Crown rooms, including an after-party for AOL. Nielsen and Brooker sat in with the Dead Winter Carpenters Saturday, the second night of the Winter’s Dead festival.

“I put a (set) list put together based on on me trying to feel out the room ahead of time,” Neilsen said. “Once we start playing, I make audibles and will call tunes based upon what the room’s telling me.”

Tracorum has shared a stage with the 7 Walkers, the Robert Randolph Family Band, Trombone Shorty, Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Rebirth Brass Band, Ivan Neville’s Dumpstafunk, Umphreys McGee, and the Mickey Hart Band.
