Mac is back, along with the Mark Twain Cultural Center & Toccata-Guttman Music Hall at Incline Village.
The intimate Mays Boulevard venue was first the Twain Center, with McAvoy and Lady Rebecca Layne proprietors, and later a performance site for Toccata, the Tahoe Symphony Orchestra and Chorus. It reopens as a partnership on Friday, Oct. 25, a performance by Layne, a Mark Twain impersonator, “Nevada 150 Years Ago.” The event celebrating the Silver State’s sesquicentennial and the venue reopening has already sold out.
Layne said he and Toccata independently will produce events while sharing the facility. Toccata’s first event will be at Christmastime, he said.
Six Pack, formerly the Lonny Parsons Project, on Nov. 8 will perform it music which “is blues to Fleetwood Mac,” Layne said.
Singer Jacqueline Schwab and Layne collaborate Feb. 7 for “Mark Twain’s America.”
“Her music will give Mark Twain’s words wings,” Layne said.
The Mark Twain Cultural Center & Toccata-Guttman Music is at 760 Mays Blvd #10, Incline Center, Incline Village. The telephone number is 775-833-1835. (1835 was Twain’s birth year, in case you forget.)
