Live at Lakeview: Jelly Bread opens free Thursday concerts

Jelly Bread headlines the first Live at Lakeview concert Thursday at South Lake Tahoe

Summer and Live at Lakeview begin this week.

Free concerts will be presented Thursdays from 4:30-8:30 p.m. at Lakeview Commons in South Lake Tahoe.

“Our whole lineup is really solid across the board,” Live at Lakeview Director Rob Giustina said. “Last year we started with the Dead Winter Carpenters, who were Tahoe band of the year 2011, and this year we start with Jelly Bread, top Tahoe band 2012.”

A four-piece from Reno, Jelly Bread plays funk and R&B with a slide-guitar twist.

Opening bands will play from 4:30 to 6 with the headline band starting at 6:30 p.m.

Deep Fryed Mojo plays an after-party at 9 p.m. down Harrison Ave. in Rojo’s Tavern.

The South Lake Tahoe City Council last month approved the installation of two parking kiosks serving Lakeview Commons, the Lake Tahoe News reported. At some point this summer, a band might be inspired to cover Bob Dylan’s “Subterranean Homesick Blues,” which includes the verse, “Don’t follow leaders; watch the parkin’ meters.”

“We have added food vendors, all kinds of other artists and crafts, and there is a beer garden other local vendors and bike valet. There is very limited parking so we ask everybody to hike or bike, or if you park be careful.

With the exception of July 4, concerts will be presented every Thursday though Aug. 29.
