Tahoe-bound Chris Robinson Brotherhood releases 3rd album

Chris Robinson Brotherhood

The Chris Robinson Brotherhood makes its second Crystal Bay Casino appearance on Tuesday, May 6.

The band today, April 29, released its third studio album, “Phosphorescent Harvest.” Robinson and guitarist Neal Casal co-wrote eight of the songs, Robinson wrote the other two.

The band, which also includes keyboardist Adam MacDougall, drummer George Sluppick and bassist Mark Dutton, began the tour which will include Tahoe the day the album was released with the first of three shows at Phil Lesh’s Terrapin Crossroads. It formed in 2011 and has performed more than 230 shows.

Material for “Phosphorescent Harvest” was written during the band’s last nine-month tour, Casal told guitarword.com

“It’s certainly my favorite of the albums we’ve done and really shows our growth as a band,” he told James Wood. “Arrangement-wise, this record is a lot deeper, more complex and psychedelic than anything we’ve done. It covers a lot of ground, but the songs and vocals are never compromised.”

Robinson commented about the album in a press statement:

“The best perspective I have on what’s going on in my life — good and bad — is what comes out in the songs. As you move on in time, you get older, you have relationships. Some of them are good, some fail. Friends. Drugs. Life. Death. People come, people go. Songwriting is a completely different emotional response to your life and to what it means, to in some poetic nature, put it out there.”
