The California Honeydrops sold out the Crystal Bay Casino on Friday and Saturday, filling the Crown Room with high energy, groovy tunes and a plethora of musician instruments.
With eight band mates they worked flawlessly together creating a beautifully harmonic set on Saturday filled with jazzy, funk vibes that got the crowd dancing with joy. Founding members lead singer Lech Wierzynski and drummer Ben Malament, brought the style in matching custom made orange attire. Lech made sure to personally jam with each one of his band mates and ensured they all received multiple solos throughout the night. The band was having a good time and it showed. At one point Lech Wierzynski playing the trumpet, fell to the ground at the end of a song from playing so hard!
With popular songs played such as “Got The Feeling” and “In My Baby’s Arms, you could tell the crowd was so excited to hear them and be there for that show. It was a night full of grooving and some good old dancing jams. So much energy was put into every single song by the band members on stage it was a great sight to see and enjoy.
And here’s more sweet news: The California Honeydrops will return to perform at the April 1-3 WinterWonderGrass at Palisades Tahoe (formerly Squaw Valley) and a Grass After Dark show April 2 in the Olympic Village Lodge. The band is scheduled for at least six other festivals this spring and summer, including the High Sierra Music Festival.
Up next at the Crystal Bay Casino: An Evening With North Mississippi Allstars on Friday, Feb. 4.
