International touring band Stick Figure sold out Bally’s Lake Tahoe Casino Resort showroom on May 24.
Fans traveled great distances and bought up tickets within only a couple days of ticket release. After years of not playing live performances due to Covid19 pandemic shutdowns, Stick Figure’s fan base has been growing rapidly and fans have been eagerly awaiting announcement of a tour. The long-awaited tour has been full of energy and Tuesday night was no exception. Santa Cruz based band The Expendables opened for the show, originally supposed to be The Elovators, the first act still brought the heat.
Lead singer, Scott Woodruff also is known for his sweet, stage loving dog Coco. You could tell Coco felt back at home being on stage, popping balloons all night and playing with new dog toys that the crowd was throwing up there for her.
It was with amazement we were also able to witness Scott Walker of Scott Walker electric guitars make a guest appearance on the pedal steel guitar for the song “Angels Above Me.” Electric guitarist Johnny Cosmic and lead guitar and vocals Scott Woodruff represented with California-made Scott Walker guitars.
When the song “Burn The Night” went on the crowd immediately took out whatever light source they had and waved it in rhythm to the music for a magical moment.
As the performance went on the energy kept going up and up. Keyboardist Kevin Bong, notorious for playing barefoot finally kicked off his shoes at the last song and Woodruff jumped into the crowd with mic in hand still strongly singing.
To add to the excitement and everyone’s surprise an intoxicated fan jumped on stage during a Stick Figure song only to be chased off by band crew and security. A first for this tour but not an uncommon occurrence. to say the least.
The show ended with a big birthday shoutout and cake complete with candles to drummer Kevin Offitzer.
This night was as lively as it gets, and full of life for the music that is back for good.
