Photographer’s notebook: The Concerts at Commons Beach summer series kicked off on Sunday, June 19, and it started with a large gathering of folks, both local and otherwise, who enjoyed what was a beautiful day at the lake.
The Sweetwater String Band, a cello-driven High Sierra bluegrass band, and Dustbowl Revival, a bluegrass, jazzy and Southern soul band, put smiles on the all of the faces in the crowd, both those in their low-back beach chairs, and those who were dancing. Good music, good folks in both of these bands, good friends, and good times.
I love the Concerts at Commons Beach series, and though I me be slightly biased, as I live only a mile away, this truly is one of my favorite music series on the lake. Live music, it does a soul good.
On a side note, if you happen to run into me in this place that I call home, ask me about the “old-school” phone fun the Sweetwater String Band and I had, I still chuckle when I think about it.
