The Motet founder and drummer Dave Watts couldn’t tell us the details when he and his band visited Crystal Bay on Oct. 26, but the news was released today: The Motet’s first studio album in four years will be celebrated at a CD release party Jan. 25 in Denver’s Fillmore Auditorium.
SCI and EOTO percussionist Jason Hann will join the Motet onstage. Snarky Puppy and Orgone will open the show, described on the band’s website as “a night of funk and psychedelic improvisation.”
Watts told Tahoe Onstage that the Motet’s seventh studio album differs from earlier records because everybody contributed in the songwriting.
“It’s focused on songs and more funk grooves and production as opposed to different styles that we’ve put on records in the past,” Watts said.
