Fiery Pat Travers Band

A crowd as enthusiastic as you will ever witness at a seated South Shore Room concert loved the Pat Travers Band March 15 in Harrah’s Lake Tahoe. The “Hammer Heads” were out of their chairs much of the night to dance to Travers numerous hits and some new songs from a recent album. The band’s lineup has been consistent for many years with bassist Rodney O’Quinn, drummer Sandy Gennaro and Kirk McKim, who often doubled with Travers for a dual lead guitar sound. Travers rock is blues insprired and from the post British Invasion era, although he did find his first success in Britain.

“I had a couple of choices,” Travers told Tahoe Onstage before the show.  “I could have gone to New York or Los Angeles but I had no desire to go to either one of those places. So I went to London and I was fortunate in the first couple of months of being there I was able to get a record deal. Then meet a manager and get a better record deal. The curve just kept going up and up for a few years. It was awesome.”

Travers said he hopes to return to Tahoe soon, and Harrah’s director of entertainment said the feeling is mutual.
