Blind Boys of Alabama in Tahoe

The Blind Boys of Alabama opened an international tour Oct. 19 with an inspirational performance in Harrah’s Lake Tahoe’s South Shore Room. The band started in the late 1930s at the Alabama Institute for the Negro Blind in Talladega. The band performed songs from its five Grammy winning records and from “I’ll Find a Way,” released Oct. 2. Founding member Jimmy Carter is still sharp and he joked with the crowd, spoke about gospel and walked down the aisles to shake hands with appreciative audience members.
