Tired of the snow already? Ready for summer?
Don’t flake out, Harveys Lake Tahoe has got you covered. This week, Harveys announced the first two concerts in the annual summer series at its Outdoor Arena. Train will pull into South Shore on Sunday, July 9, and Third Eye Blind will be fully focused on Sunday, July 16, the deciding day the American Century Championship (known to locals as the celebrity golf tournament).
Train is embarking on its Play That Song Tour, named for the hit single on its upcoming album “a girl a bottle a boat.” to be released Jan. 27. It’s the Bay Area rockers’ third Lake Tahoe stop in four years. The band didn’t appear here in 2016, but — as a present — released “Christmas in Tahoe” just before that new year kicked in.
The newest album is Train’s first set of original music since 2014’s “Bulletproof Picasso.” The new single, “Play That Song,” continues moving up the charts following its debut performance on ABC’s Dancing With The Stars, climbing into the Billboard Hot 100 chart and approaching the top 10 at Adult Top 40 radio.
Train will be joined by openers O.A.R. , a rock/jam band from, well, Rockville, Maryland, and London’s Natasha Bedington, a “pop soul diva” singer/songwriter. O.A.R. is the moniker for Of A Revolution and the 20-year-old band tumbles out alt rock, indie rock and roots rock. Having produced eight studio albums and five recordings of live performances, O.A.R. released “XX,” a two-disc compilation of live shows and new studio material last August.
Presale tickets for the Train concert go on sale Thursday, Jan. 26, at Another Planet Entertainment. General-public sales begin Friday, Jan. 27.
On a weekend when thousands of celebrity-golf fans will roll into Tahoe, Third Eye Blind is celebrating the 20th anniversary of releasing its self-titled debut album, and the San Francisco rock band has announced that it will perform that album in its entirety. Ready for “Jumper”? (“I wish you would step away from that ledge my friend…”) The golf tourney runs from July 14-16, and Harveys typically adds a second concert to coincide with the four-day party.
Special guests for Third Eye Blind will be Silversun Pickups, an alt rock band from Los Angeles. Presale tickets go on sale Wednesday, Feb. 8, at Another Planet Entertainment. General-public sales begin Friday, Feb. 10.
