Raucous and radical, Flogging Molly hits Reno on March 19

Flogging Molly

Blending the lines between Celtic music, pirate shanties and punk, Flogging Molly is known for their energetic raucous and radical live shows. Led by Dave King, a born Irishman who has been living and playing music in Los Angeles since the early ‘80s, the group will be wrapping up the U.S. leg of their tour here in Reno for the band’s seventh album, “Anthem.”

Flogging Molly has claimed bands ranging from country to folk to rock as their influences with members having played previously in bands ranging from metal to punk to folk rock. With a band made up in part by banjos, fiddles, and an accordion, the group weaves lyrics about love, death and radical politics into an array of stomping catchy Celtic punk singalongs.

Joining Flogging Molly with be punk band Anti-Flag touring on their 13th studio album which was released in January, “Lies They Tell Our Children,” and British folk band Skinny Lister.

ABOUT Shaun Astor

Shaun Astor
Shaun Astor cites pop music singers and social deviants as being among his strongest influences. His vices include vegan baking, riding a bicycle unreasonable distances and fixating on places and ideas that make up the subject of the sentence, "But that’s impossible…" He splits his time between Reno and a hammock perched from ghost town building foundations.
