Tahoe Onstage
Karl Denson returns to the Crystal Bay Casino on Saturday, Feb. 3.

At the outset of 2018, Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe head out for a string of shows including a stop at the Crystal Bay Crown Room in Crystal Bay on Saturday, Feb.3. Tickets are $25. The Sextones will open. Sam Geronimo will play the Red Room after-party.

Highly regarded as one of the best live bands on the planet, KDTU (as they are known to fans) are led by acclaimed reedman and songwriter, Karl Denson. He’s one of the founding members of seminal boogaloo revivalists, The Greyboy Allstars and first came to national attention as a member of Lenny Kravitz’s ‘Let Love Rule’-era band. In 2016, Denson was asked to join The Rolling Stones as their tenor saxophonist. This summer he performed across Europe with the legendary rock icons on their No Filter tour.

On KDTU’s Winter 2018 run, the band will be showcasing material from their long-awaited forthcoming studio album, as well as previous acclaimed KDTU recordings like ‘New Ammo’ and ‘The Bridge.’ Concert-goers might also hear a few classics from The Allman Brothers Band that were added to the repertoire for a string of shows celebrating the Southern rock legends in 2017, dubbed “Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe presents Eat A Bunch of Peaches.”

The current KDTU touring lineup is comprised of Richmond guitarist DJ Williams, original drummer of The Greyboy Allstars, Zak Najor, The Greyboy Allstars’ bassist Chris Stillwell, Crush Effects’ keyboardist David Veith, Seattle trumpeter Chris Littlefield and ace slide and lap steel guitarist Seth Freeman.
