As summer fades away, the countdown has begun for the magical Hangtown Music Festival held Oct- 24-27.
This is a family-friendly event, with camping, family activities and daily costume themes. During the day, there the music on two stages, with a special stage for the late-night shows that continue until the witching hours.
The costume themes are Hakuna Matata on Thursday, Let’s Get Funky on Friday (my favorite) Pajama party (let’s put the jam in pajama) on Saturday, and Fantasy Realm on Sunday.
As always, the music lineup is amazing. Railroad Earth again will headline the festival, along with the bands that I think are going to be the crowd favorites: Greensky Bluegrass, Dark Star Orchestra, The Wood Brothers, The Motet, Anders Osborne, Lil Smokies, Fruition and The World’s Finest.
Hangtown staggers the time between the two stages to ensure that folks can see each band without any overlap, which is a wonderful feature.
The late-night stage is also full of crowd favorites to keep you dancing until the wee hours: Friday night is Fruition and The Higgs, Saturday night is The Monet and Dirty Revival, Sunday night is Chris Jacobs and the Lil Smokies.
