Still sizzling, Sacramento hosts City of Trees Festival

Blink 182 headlines Sacramento’s City of Trees Festival on Sunday, Sept. 24.

It’s an asset that the Reno/Tahoe area has four seasons, but for the festival crowd, there are only two: Summer and SnowGlobe. And while recent thunderstorms and cooler days mark that transitional period between the two, our neighbors in Sacramento are still making the most of their hot days with the upcoming City Of Trees Festival.

City Of Trees’ aim is clearly for everyone to find their par-tay! Held across four stages at the Cal Expo Center, the main stage will feature headliners Blink 182, along with Jack Antonoff’s Bleachers, Dreamcar (that is the instrument-playing members of No Doubt fronted by Davey Havok of AFI),  and Denmark’s New Politics. There is also the Discovery Stage, which will have Iration and singer Bishop Briggs, among others.

A third stage will feature Sacramento-area locals in a diverse range of genres from the ambient Petaluma to the reggae/jam Element of SouL to Our People’s blending of jazz and funk. And finally an electronic stage that will be graced by DJ’s and producers including Joyzu, Zephyr, Oshiin, Formless and others.

In all, 20 bands and acts will perform at the festival in Papa Murphy’s Park in the Cal Expo Center. City Of Trees will also host an array of food vendors and even have an area for psychic readings to visit between acts.

General admission for the daylong festival on Sunday, Sept. 24, are $49.50, with a VIP option for some added perks.
