The Red Room is an appropriate venue for “Scarlet Begonias.”

The Lake Tahoe-Reno band Casual Dogs pays homage to the Grateful Dead Saturday, Sept. 28 in the Crystal Bay Casino. The show starts at 10 p.m. There is no cover charge.

The Casual Dogs long, strange trip began in 2007. It has played well over 100 shows locally. A bonus for this tribute band is it can choose any Dead song or any other song, and it probably had been played at some point by the Grateful Dead.

Here’s the Cdogs lineup: Frank “Fletch” Fletcher on drums, Joe Warren lead guitar, Nick DeNoia bass, Jeff Laactso on keyboards, saxophone and wind synth and Mark Materne on rhythm guitar.
