Part race, part capture the flag and part obstacle course, REDRUN is a zombie themed event that turns the streets and hills of Virginia City into a town-sized escape room on a scale of few, if any, other events in the Reno/Tahoe area.
Following a storyline of a massive disease outbreak that has infected hundreds of zombies who want you to join their ranks, participants must escape the hordes to recover the antivenom. Traditionally obstacles including swimming pool size pools of blood, zombie infested hallways of Virginia City’s historic and haunted buildings and mine shafts, blood red Jello shot stocked aid stations, and other obstacles have lined the 6.66 mile course (runners also have an option of signing up for a 3.33 distance).
Runners are encouraged to sign up as individuals or as teams, though this is far from a traditional run. The event was named one of Yahoo’s Top 5 Halloween Events nationwide, and professional make up and effects teams are onsite to ensure that the zombies stalking the five Dead Zones along the course are looking their best. Twists in the storyline add a strategic puzzle element to the run and prizes are awarded to those who cross the finish line with their flags still intact.
As of now registrations as Zombies has sold out, however openings as teams and runners remain available.
