Music to the ears: Live at Lakeview eyes August return

Live at Lakeview shows on Thursdays might resume in August, its organizers said today.

The city of South Lake Tahoe has started accepting event applications for small get-togethers and California is slated to lift most business restrictions on June 15.

“These are steps in a positive direction, and if our situation continues to improve, we may get to host a few live shows in August,” On Course Events Director of Marketing Leslie Schultz said in a press statement. “Unfortunately, at this time, we do not feel it’s safe or responsible to move forward with our usual season of 10 weekly concerts.”

The series at Lakeview Commons began in 2012 and typically starts the first week of summer. The 2020 season was canceled due to the global Covid-19 pandemic. If all goes well, there could be a couple of concerts in 2021.

“The public health and overall safety of our community and staff remains our top priority,” On Course Events owner Rob Giustina said in a press statement, “We are eager to get back to providing free live music at Lakeview Commons for our community, but at this time we are putting the 2021 season of Live at Lakeview on hold through at least July to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.”
