The menagerie of Dr. Stain – including mutant hybrids created from mixing the parts of imprisoned humans with hunted animals – have escaped and what results is a city on lockdown being overrun by the escaped monsters. Such a scene is what visitors to Reno’s 32,000 square foot Dark Corner Haunted House are welcomed to upon entering one of two haunted mazes.

Those who make it through the winding indoor and outdoor passageways, through dark and sometimes claustrophobic halls, past ravenous roaming monsters, and out of the Shadow Plague maze can then enter the multi-level Dark Lane Mall, a horrific reimagining of the city’s former Park Lane Mall property. However Dark Corner’s mall consists of long abandoned stores, maintenance rooms bathed in flickering light and a food court that will likely gross out vegetarians and carnivores alike. All along the way, dozens of monsters wander through the dark to scare, startle and spook visitors.

Such is the experience at Dark Corner Haunt – the largest haunted house in Northern Nevada and one that warns upfront that the experience is not for children or the squeamish. Constructed by a local film studio, Dark Corner’s lifelike figures, all encompassing rooms and atmosphere and enveloping din of lighting, special effects, sound projections and fog easily rival any big city haunted attraction experience. Each of the 60+ monsters must pass an audition and make up artists and costume coordinators outfit each performer nightly.

In addition to the two mazes, a DJ set up, fire dancers, themed photo ops and multiple specialty bars await visitors at downtown’s National Bowling Stadium where the haunted house operates from – it should be noted that one bar is a speakeasy housed in a normally-closed corner of the bowling stadium, containing the oddities and eerie set pieces from the collections of filmmakers, however this bar is restricted to those purchasing the VIP ticketing upgrade.

The attraction encompasses areas both inside and outside of the Bowling Stadium and touches all of the senses throughout its winding rooms and passages. The attention to detail and the progression of a storyline as you travel deeper into each maze creates an uncanny and unique experience. In addition, Dark Corner gives visitors an option to bowl or visit the bar while waiting for their start time.

Reno’s Dark Corner Haunt is the premiere attraction in the area for those looking for the full scary and entertaining haunted house experience.

Dark Corner Haunt is open on select nights through October and offers general entry as well as a VIP option that comes with additional perks.
