A down-on-his-luck impressionist makes a deal with a stage puppet that promises stardom for the impressionist, however the puppet has other plans that threaten those closest to the performer. This hints at the plot behind the film MIMICS, directed by Kristoffer Polaha.
Aside from Polaha’s film beginning a national release, fittingly on Friday the 13th of this month, the plans behind the film’s world premier release inside Reno’s Pioneer Center for the Performing Arts will mark a full circle moment for the actor turned director as he and others on the cast take the stage throughout some of the events planned for the film’s premier showing.
While Polaha, a Reno native, is probably best known for his recurring role in the critically acclaimed series Life Unexpected, he has also had roles in TV series such as Get Shorty, North Shore and Mad Men, as well as major blockbuster films such as Wonder Woman 1984 and Jurassic World: Dominion. Making his directorial debut with MIMICS, Polaha has set the film in Reno, with the city itself playing a significant part in the plot.

With the film’s world premier showing taking place on Wednesday, February 11th, Polaha is taking the opportunity to make Reno and the Pioneer Center the host of a Hollywood caliber event. The night will include a red carpet and have the film’s cast join those in the audience, as well as participate in a Q&A onstage following the showing.
What’s more, the public is welcome to attend this event, with Kristoffer Polaha fulfilling a dream of taking the stage and speaking with the audience about the film following the screening.
Complete information regarding tickets and VIP options for attending the world premiere of MIMICS with director Kristoffer Polaha and the cast can be found at the Pioneer Center’s event page.
