The Motet and Polyrhythmics set for funk infused duel in Tahoe

March 2025

Two funk heavy projects are heading to the Crystal Bay Club’s Crown Room this Friday night. Seattle’s Polyrhythmics and Colorado’s The Motet are set to share a stage and blast their own respective brand of danceable funk-infused tunes.

The Motet have refined their sound with appearances at festivals such as Bonnaroo, High Sierra Music Festival, and Electric Forest, in addition to multiple headlining runs at their home venue of Red Rocks Amphitheater. Mixing elements of prog rock to their international fusion of beats, the group is known for reaching out to an eclectic set of influences that have formed the sound across their nine albums.

Polyrhythmics’ sound incorporates brass instruments, with the sound leaning toward a more cinematically-influenced style building upon the group’s funk roots. Since 2010, the group has increasingly rounded out their sound and established themselves for putting on an energetically catchy live show.

The Motet and Polyrhythmics will perform at the Crystal Bay Casino on Friday, March 14th. Tickets can be purchased here.

ABOUT Shaun Astor

Shaun Astor cites pop music singers and social deviants as being among his strongest influences. His vices include vegan baking, riding a bicycle unreasonable distances and fixating on places and ideas that make up the subject of the sentence, "But that’s impossible…" He splits his time between Reno and a hammock perched from ghost town building foundations.
