Late April will bring the return of Sol Blume to Discovery Park, the annual R&B, soul and hip-hop festival that in four years has established itself as one of the most well-curated events in the style.
Since Year 1, Sol Blume has gone off as a well-curated playlist of smooth R&B vocalists and performers. Though over the years, even with its growth, the event remains committed to the Sacramento area, expanding into the large tree-shaded riverside park.
Headliners for this year’s festival include Brent Faiyaz, Kehlani and Teyana Taylor. The rest of the lineup pulls from major label artists who easily pack their own theaters and shows like Ella Mai, Jessie Reyez, Sabrina Claudio, Nao, Pinkpantheress and Joey Bada. In all, more thabn30 artists will take the fest’s two stages over the weekend, with a schedule that alternates between stages so that it is possible to not miss any of the performers’ sets.
The Discovery Park location offers space for the festival to incorporate larger experiences into the weekend. Sol Blume has promised the return of last year’s outdoor Sol’R Skating Rink where everyone can borrow a pair of roller skates and headphones and skate along to a live DJ. Other past events have included an interactive live butterfly garden, brand activations offering lounge seating and device charging ports, and a growing number of photo ops beneath art installations spread throughout the festival grounds.
Sol Blume offers two tiers of tickets – General Admission and VIP, which comes with a dedicated entrance line to the festival along with entry to the VIP Village which has its own vendors, bars, premium viewing areas and shortcut path between the two stages.
As Sol Blume has grown, it has retained its feeling of an epicenter artists chosen for talent and not based on sheer commercialism, utilizing open festival space for photogenic creative pieces and installations, and bringing a positive and fashionable crowd to the grounds for the weekend.
