Donny and Marie Osmond were in Tahoe onstage at Harveys Outdoor Arena on Friday, displaying their wide range of musical styles. The siblings started performing at an early age. Donny first entered the public eye when he joined his older brothers’ singing group,”The Osmonds,” and appeared regularly on “The Andy Williams Show.” Donny and Marie both recorded solo albums before joining forces to star on the 1970s TV variety show “Donny & Marie.”
In the late 1990s, the duo co-hosted their own talk show. Donny and Marie both enjoyed newfound popularity after separately appearing on the hit reality competition show, “Dancing with the Stars.” In 2008, they announced an exclusive engagement of concerts at the Flamingo Hotel in Las Vegas.
Photographer’s notebook: Bringing a variety show to a big stage is a daunting effort and I can’t think of anybody who can do it better than Donny & Marie Osmond. From disco to Broadway and country to opera, the talent of these two surpasses excellence. Their show is like a walk through the history of modern music and, having aged gracefully they certainly can entertain their aging following. I truly enjoyed the stories of their lives and loved the fun they poke at themselves and each other. I’ve gained a whole new respect for their talents and would love to see their show in Vegas. — Larry Sabo
