WinterWonderGrass Tahoe, the popular yearly music festival in Olympic Valley, California, just wrapped its 8th year, attracting both locals and people from all over regardless of what the weather might bring.
Day one of the Festival was filled with a cold mixture of snow and wind along with exceptional music. Even though the weather made for a challenging day, it didn’t slow down the music from flowing from any of the 3 stages.
There were so many opportunities to listen to bands as there were shows before the festival doors opened on top of the Mountain, or in a Tram Jam with Picking on the Dead, next door at Palisades Tahoe. And if the daily music offerings were not enough for you every night there were after parties so you could dance the night away, with different Headliners from the Festival.
Here is a partial list of the Artists that graced the stages of this year’s WinterWonderGrass Tahoe Festival for the first time.
Sierra Ferrell, Paul Cauthen, Andy Frasco and the U.N., Sierra Hull, Sam Grisman Project, Diggin Dirt, Shadowgrass, Tejon Street Corner Thieves, Two Runner, Boot Juice and Cast Iron.
They were Joined by some very talented Alumni:
The Infamous Stringdusters, Kitchen Dwellers, The Lil Smokies, Lindsay Lou, WinterWonderWomen, Pickin on the Dead, Clay Street Unit, Broken Compass Bluegrass, River Wonder Grass All-Stars, Caltucky, The Devil Makes Three and others.
On days two and three of the festival, the skies were sunny, but still a bit of snow falling from the sky and chilly, as to be expected in the wintertime in Tahoe. This did not slow down anyone as the music was to be found in any of the three tents situated around the festival grounds, or the main stage.
There were three booths set up handing out free tastings of adult beverages for a few hours each day. Beverages from Tin Cup Whisky, Castoro Cellars Winery, and Nutrl Vodka Hard Seltzer were there. There were also many different food trucks, and many different bars in different locations, in case you got thirsty. This was a very family event and there was also, a cool Kid Zone located in the middle of everything, for the children and their family to enjoy.
This is always a very heartwarming fun family event, with a great time had by all. Can’t wait until next time.
