Southern soul rockers Tedeschi Trucks and country rock group Whiskey Myers brought their “Live in 25 Tour” to the Lake Tahoe Outdoor Arena at Caesar’s Republic on Friday, August 15th.
Tedeschi Trucks Band started the party off with Susan Tedeschi and her strong sultry voice, and Derek Trucks with his masterful guitar playing. The sound of that special blend of blues laced with a strong element of southern rock, included sharing the stage with a large crew of musicians, 12 in total, including a three piece horn section, two drum kits, keyboards, bass and multiple backup singers. The large group opened took the stage and opened with “Anyhow,” “Crazy Cryin'” and worked in a cover of Bob Dylan’s “Don’t Think Twice… It’s Alright.” They jammed their way through a 13 song set, concluding with a cover of Santana’s “Soul Sacrifice.”
Whiskey Myers was next on stage, bringing their own special brand of country blues with a Southern rock influence to the amphitheater. They are a very tight, extremely talented six piece band that has a strong powerful stage presence. It was easy to see that their music was inspired by Lynyrd Skynyrd and Hank Williams Jr.
Amongst their set, the group played “Stone” and a few others from their appearances on the television show Yellowstone, along with a few songs that elicited the loudest response from the audience, such as “Ballad of a Southern Man,” “The Wolf” and closed the night out with “Virginia.”
The entire event was a wonderful experience and dance party. Tedeschi Trucks Band’s music was so special, and left us all wanting more.
