On Friday, March 27th, Carson City’s Nashville Social Club hosted the award winning blues saxophonist, singer and songwriter Vanessa Collier. Ms. Collier, a 15 time Blues Music Awards nominee and five time winner (including taking home the Horn Player of the Year Awards in 2019, 2020, 2024 & 2025) brought her amazing band and captivated the sold out Carson City crowd the entire evening!

She brought her amazing band which included Laura Chevez on lead guitar, who in 2023 won the honor of being the only Female to ever win the Blues Music Award for Best Instrumentalist on a Guitar. Bassist Andrew Cane, and Byron Cage on Percussion.

They started out the evening with a wonderful bluesy rock tune which included Ms. Collier playing her mighty sax and guitar. She then welcomed everyone and thanked the audience for selling out the show, explaining how she picked up the saxophone when she was 10 years old and hasn’t put it down for 26 years!

Her band included Laura Chevez on lead guitar, the only female to ever win the Blues Music Award for Best Instrumentalist on a Guitar, bassist Andrew Cane, and was rounded out by Byron Cage on percussion.

They continued to play all original tunes written by Ms. Collier for the entire show, with crowd favorites such as “Heart on the Line” , “Bloodhound”, and “Do It My Own Way.” The songs were elevated by a healthy inclusion of amazing saxophone and guitar solos from both Ms. Collier and Laura Chevez. They are extremely talented masterful musicians and fun to watch and enjoy!

Called “…an important part of the future of the blues” by Blues Blast Magazine, Vanessa Collier put on an evening of unforgettable soulful blues that moved both your heart and your feet. Ms. Collier is truly a world-class artist who does it her own way. If she is performing in your neighborhood, don’t miss her legendary performance!

Thank you to The Nashville Social Club for bringing these legendary musical artists to our neighborhood and keeping the music alive!
