Cypress explodes in screaming color with Lover Fest.

Lover Fest – a themed club night at Cypress in Midtown Reno modeled after Taylor Swift’s Era’s Tour – took the themed night model and elevated it to a fever pitch by completely saturating the room in Swiftesque music, video, lights and flair for the night.

Created by Reno’s DJ Funn, Cypress was completely transformed into an experience meant to rival the stadium-sized environment and feeling of positivity and inclusivity of the Taylor Swift concert tour (minus the travel and $1000+ resale ticket prices involved for the real thing!) Stepping into the venue, photo ops mimicking the 1989 album cover polaroids and marquee light-up signage were spread throughout the club. Glittery banners hung from walls while themed posters and photos decorated nearly every surface of the venue.

Themed drinks flowed from the bar while out on the back patio, images of the singer’s ex’s and nemeses decorated a dartboard, inviting attendees to lob darts at photos of Scooter Braun, John Mayer and Kanye West.

DJ Funn’s Daryl spun a curated playlist of Swift songs, transitioning from one era to the next in a sequence the amped up the energy – though he didn’t neglect slipping in a few known crowd favorites such as the 10 minute version of “All Too Well” during the Red era.

Though maybe unsurprisingly, the vibe of the night was amplified by the crowd just as much, if not more, than the music. The sold out venue was filled with a crowd who came dressed up in outfits from the singer’s different eras and eager to sing along and dance to every song played. Well known songs erupted in a wave of voices singing and shouting along, and waving drinks in the air. Concert footage played on a backdrop while the house lights bathed the room in pastel tones.

At the end of the night, it was clear that DJ Funn’s attention to the details and thoughtful curation of a club night was able to capture and recreate the genuinely positive and upbeat environment experienced at Taylor Swift’s Era’s Tour performance.
