Concert Review: Keller Williams is a one man jam band

Keller Williams has been busy taking his tour nationwide this year, as he made his way to Crystal Bay Casino’s Crown Room on Sunday, February 18th and stepped on the stage barefoot and wearing shorts, armed with his favorite acoustic guitar and ready to play to an intimate and eager crowd.

Williams definitely has his own unique style of music that lies somewhere between bluegrass, folk and alternative rock, with elements of reggae, jazz, and funk creating a non-stop sound that could be defined as “electronic stereophonic.” He welcomed everyone and thanked them for coming out with a sincere “I Love You.” He then launched into his unique looping style, with the older tune, “Peaches.”

Williams’ music is such that it sounds as if there were other musicians on the stage playing with him. With the looping musicianship, he’s famously known as being a one man jam band. It’s a difficult task to perform but Keller’s talent is to pull it off smoothly, leaving the Crown Room in a noticeable state of amazement.

He played “Kidney In A Cooler” and a variety of his other well-known tunes with the looping continuing throughout the evening.

Over the evening, Williams performed two wonderful sets for everyone there, ending the night with an encore that had everyone dancing and wishing for more music.

Williams uses a variety of pedals to create his looped and layered sound.
