Saturday night, May 31st , Crystal Bay Casino’s Crown Room hosted a raucous night of energetic music and dancing led by two bands. Hot Buttered Rum started the evening with their six piece, upbeat, contemporary bluegrass tunes. The band featured a steel lap guitar, violin, keyboard, stand-up bass, rhythm guitar and drums. The group seemed to really strike a chord as they performed David Bowie’s “Let’s Dance” which swept the room into an appropriate frenzy of movement.
The Crown Room seemed ready to burst when multi instrumentalist Jackie Greene took the stage. From the start, Greene whipped up the room’s energy and he did not disappoint. Greene’s five piece band was ready to rock to this almost sold out crowd as they played through their set of contemporary rock and roll with a special bluesy twist. Jackie’s harmonica playing especially stood out this evening.
Jackie treated the audience to a cover of the Blondie tune, “One Way or Another “ amongst a performance that filled the room with the feel-good music, ending the night with a cover of the Neil Young song, “Change Your Mind” during the encore that capped the group’s set perfectly!
As the music was over for the evening in the Crown Room, the Red Room’s party was just getting started, with the Golden Cadillacs. They are a 4-piece band with a roots infused, bluesy southern rock influence. The Crystal Bay Casino chose a perfect fit, as most people stayed and were dancing the night away to the funky rock tunes that the Cadillacs were playing with their great harmonies and cool harmonica.
It was nice to see the after- party tradition continuing to come alive again in the Red Room, especially with such a fun dance band playing!
