Friday nights at the Grand Sierra Resort Pool have begun! Steel Pulse kicked off the reggae series over Memorial Day Weekend, which will feature a different act every Friday evening through the end of August.
Fans and pool party guests get a pretty intimate show inside the Grand Sierra Resort’s sprawling pool area. Enjoy the pool for a swim or even just to dip your feet. You don’t have to swim or get wet at all if you just want to enjoy the show. Multiple hot tubs and the onsite bar add to the appeal for catching a pool party show. There are also plenty of photo opportunities including a big rubber duck statue at the entry. Pool parties are open to all ages.
For the first show of the season, Birmingham, England’s roots reggae group, Steel Pulse had the crowd vibin with them from start to finish. Steel Pulse was the first non-Jamaican act to win the Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album, and in the early 90’s they became the first ever reggae band to appear on the Tonight television show. Their energetic live performance got the poolside crowd dancing non stop and singing along to all their personal favorites. Energy was super positive and everyone was enjoying delicious drinks while Steel Pulse’s reggae wafted through the dusk air.
The group’s horn section, consisting of Wesley Etienne on trombone and John Avery on sax, danced as hard as they played. The infectiousness carried over and get the crowd from the pool deck to the cabanas up and dancing. It was such an enjoyable night.
