15 years ago, The Dead Winter Carpenters’ story began in Crystal Bay Club’s Red Room as a late night, after-party Band for the Yonder Mountain String Band. This weekend, they were the headliners in the much higher capacity Crown Room, completing a full circle within Crystal Bay’s walls. And on the night of the show, Dead Winter Carpenters enjoyed their anniversary in a showroom filled with love, friends and dancing that amped the atmosphere into a party and a nod to the group’s future.
For the occasion, Dead Winter Carpenters put together a special medley of songs with their favorite tunes as an overview of the past 15 years together! The group glowed as they moved around the stage with their instruments, shining with the special feeling of the occasion.
The band brought up members of the opener, Boot Juice to join in for a few moments. Jessica Stoll, vocalist and mandolin player for Boot Juice, and Caleb Sanders, Boot Juice’s sax player, elevated the energy level as they accompanied the Carpenters onstage. Another very special guest was invited up onstage, local musician Pete Charles who also happens to be DWC fiddle player Jenni Charles’ dad. The elder Charles played his harmonica along with Jenni’s fiddle playing.
As the night came to a close with DWC’s signature song “Sinners ‘n’ Freaks,” it was wonderful to see everyone dancing and enjoying all of the music. Here is to 15 more years of celebrations together!
The night’s openers, Boot Juice, is a 7-piece band with a horn section, and they were ready to help celebrate this event as each members had dressed up for the occasion! The group started the fun with a crowd favorite, “Waiting on Sunshine.” Boot Juice invited Dead Winter Carpenters’ Jenni Charles to join them onstage with her
fiddle, along with Matt Mitchell who jumped in on keyboard, leading to an uproarious response from the crowd.
