Anthony “Tone” Catalano brought his band Little Hurricane to the Divided Sky in South Lake Tahoe, CA this past Saturday, November 22. The band’s signature lamp and night stand amplifier could be seen tucked in the corner of the cozy Divided Sky stage.
The show opened up with a performance by members of Red Dirt Ruckus, marketed as the Rio Grande Trio although there were four of them jamming, and the crowd agreed the more the merrier. They brought a high energy opening set and it was obvious that they were stoked to be there supporting Little Hurricane.

After a short set break and gear shuffle, Little Hurricane took the stage and true to their name hit it hard right away. The musicianship and chemistry of the group was on full display the entire night, with Ryan Kronenberg holding down the groove on the drums and multi-instrumentalist Hattie Craven beaming at Catalano between each song.

Little Hurricane’s unique and rocking Americana sound shined throughout their set, bringing with them a small army of instruments to keep the tone different with each tune. Catalano played several different guitars throughout the evening, including slide guitar on an electric set atop a small piano, and even breaking out a funky looking four-string hollow body tenor guitar. Hattie switched between a Fender Stratocaster, an A-style mandolin, a ukulele with a banjo head which Hattie affectionately referred to as “Banjalina Jolie” or “Michael Banjelo”, and supporting percussion with a pair of tom-toms played by hand. The result was a soundscape that is truly unique, and a show not to miss when Little Hurricane comes to your town!
