The Get Ahead

The Get Ahead will perform at 8 p.m. Sunday, April 1, at The Saint. Special guests Soul Correction and Josiah Knight. Guests must be 21 or older. Cover charge is $5 at the door, which opens at 7 p.m. The Get Ahead is a five-piece group from Portland, Oregon, that has evolved from retro-soul evangelism to a more mature and distinct identity. Its newest release, “Mind is a Mountain,” highlights their emotive and gritty roots aesthetic while hinting at soul with simmering grooves, yearning vocals and purposeful lyrics. Produced by Grammy Award winning artist Son Little (Mavis Staples, RJD2), the quintet mines an amalgam of classic rock, swampy blues, vintage soul, R&B and gospel in its mission to move people.
