T-Bar Social Club presents The Bodie 601 on Saturday night.
The Bodie 601 Band is an bluegrass band from Mammoth Lakes, California. Named after an 19th century old west slang term for a vigilance committee, the group considers itself “musical vigilantes” in that they have banded together to take the laws (of music) into their own hands in order to forge a sound that is theirs and theirs alone.
Featuring strong vocal harmonies, fiery fiddle solos and driving rhythm, this band has played extensively throughout their home Mono and Inyo counties of the Eastern Sierra Nevada. The release of the band’s second album, Another Way, has brought the band’s particular blend of music (which some have said is reminiscent of the music of contemporary vocal folk trio the Wailin Jennys) to a wider audience. This album of powerful original compositions penned by guitarist Cassie Burgenbauch and bassist Russ Reese has been met with popular acclaim and strong local buzz.
