We are getting down with Mojo Green Saturday, April 29. The Saint is celebrating one year of business and we have a lot of wonderful entertainment in the works. We hope you can join us in midtown. Thank you for supporting live music and drinking local beer.
Mojo Green, a seven-piece band from Reno is known as one of the premier funk and soul bands on the west coast.
Over the last two years Mojo Green has played over 200 shows taking their high energy, hard hitting, crazy dance party to storied venues such as The Great American Music Hall, The Sierra Nevada Big Room, The Sweetwater Music Hall, Harlow’s in SacTown, The Crystal Bay Casino, and the historic Celebrity Showroom at the Reno Nugget. Their touring schedule has given them the honor of sharing the same stage with powerhouse acts like The Funky Meters, The Motet, Trombone Shorty, Orgone, Big Sam’s Funky Nation, Turkuaz, The Scott Pemberton Trio, The Monophonics, Tea Leaf Green, Nigel Hall w/ members of Lettuce, and gained them the reputation of being one of the best live acts around. Over the past couple of years they have also had the opportunity to take their unique sound to major festivals such as Burning Man, Hangtown Halloween Ball, The Squaw Valley Funk Fest, The Bounce, For the Funk of It, and Ridgestock.
Their debut album ‘Funk in Public’, which was released in early 2013, has been well received by both fans and the media alike, while also earning an award for Best Album of Northern Nevada for 2013 by the Reno News and Review. They plan on releasing a follow-up to Funk in Public sometime in early 2015.
Made up of: Frank “Fletch” Fletcher on drums and Trevor Rice on bass laying down the tight and funky grooves that create the foundation, with Tim Bain on guitar adding some tasty, deep funk rhythms and blistering lead lines, a powerhouse heavy horn section composed of Kevin Thomas on bari sax, Monty Adams on trumpet and John Bennum on trombone with Jenes Carter adding her soulful and sexy vocal leads, Mojo Green plays a style all their own that is extremely funky, very sexy and of course super danceable.
