Jamaica’s Rootz Underground performs Wednesday, July 13, in Whiskey Dick’s Saloon. Thrive opens.
Hailing from the reggae HQ of Kingston, Jamaica, Rootz Underground has been performing for more than a decade. The six-piece band promises to bring “musical lightning and thunder” to Lake Tahoe, which could use a good thunder storm about now. Its music is described as “electric yet organic, gritty and soulful,” always postive and uplifting, recalling reggae tunes of the genre’s 1970s heyday, “while connecting the youth to the messages of Rastafari with explosive live performances.” Opening band Thrive is based in Santa Cruz and will bring its California reggae vibes, flavored by pop and soul. Tickets are $15 for those 21 and over.
