Reno Craft Beer Week with Sneaky Creatures

June 3, 2017

Sneaky Creatures

Reno Craft Beer week is coming up. The Saint will toast to the love of drinking great local beer with Sneaky Creatures. Many of you might know that this band includes brewer from Alibi Ale Works.

The Saint will be unveiling our new Sour Beer. We will give you a hint. Apricot Boysenberry Sour Aled- yet to be named.

We brewed our first ever collaboration on March 23 with our good friends at Pigeon Head Brewery. We hosted Brewers Brian and Eli as well as the owner, Eddie, and brewed a noble hopped Pilsner (yet to be named). Pigeon Head brews great lagers and we here at Brasserie Saint James crave a good pilsner on our days off. So settling on a pilsner as our collaboration brew was a no brainier. We wanted it to be unique and different so we hopped it with 10 different old world hops. After we mashed in the 5 of us gathered around a table with all of the hops lined up and began smelling and creating different possible hop combinations. We settled on a hop regime that will lead to a floral pilsner with the traditional noble hop presence. This beer was brewed for Reno Craft Beer Week. This beer will be available on draft at both Pigeon Head and Brasserie Saint James Tap Rooms (aka The Saint & ) as well as various locations in Reno.

Sneaky Creatures is a new mischievous gypsy jazz/alt-country septet from Tahoe Vista / Kings Beach, and they are creeping into the North Tahoe music scene with their unusual blend of the rootsy and the jazzy, the gypsy and the honky, the funky and the rock-a-billy.

Featuring Josh Roelle (Horsemouth, Truckee Tribe) on electric guitar, Kerry Andras (The Rusty Strings) on stand-up bass, Kevin Drake (Downbeat) on saxophones, Todd Holway (Quartet Minus One) on keyboards, Lena Meyer on trombone and trumpet, Jesse Steele on trumpet, and Steve Saturno (Quartet Minus One) on drums, this lineup of seasoned Tahoe musicians come together to create a sound that is at once unique and original, and also strangely familiar.

While watching these guys furtively slink from genre to genre, you can expect to hear many fine examples of Roelle’s songwriting skills, a plethora of obscure covers, and the occasional crowd-pleaser. You’ll want to swing your partner, laugh your head off, and duck for cover all at the same time.
