If there is any Kodachrome left in that antique film camera, save it for Sunday, June 25. That’s when Rhymin’ Paul Simon comes to Lake Tahoe.
The Evening with Paul Simon at the Lake Tahoe Outdoor Arena at Harveys will be his penultimate stop on a 16-date U.S. tour. Tickets range from $59.50 to $139.50, plus fees, and are available at Ticketmaster and Another Planet Entertainment websites.
It is hard to imagine a more impressive musical career. Simon has won 16 Grammy Awards and is a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. In 2007, Simon was the first to receive the Gershwin Prize for Popular Song by the Library of Congress. He has an Honorary Doctor of Music degree from Berklee College of Music, and Rolling Stone named him as both one of the greatest songwriters and guitarists.
He began his career in 1964 in the duo Simon and Garfunkel, which had songs such as “Bridge Over Troubled Water,” “Feeling Groovy,” “Mrs. Robinson” and “Sound of Silence.” Simon went on to the pen iconic tunes “Still Crazy After All These Years,” “Graceland,” “You Can Call Me Al,” “Diamond on the Souls of Her Feet,” “Slip Slidin’ Away,” “Me and Julio Down by the Schoolyard” and “Kodachrome.”
Last June, Simon released his 13th solo album, “Stranger to Stranger.”
He performed at Harveys in 2006. By the way, my man, you gotta have a wristband to see him play. (Or at least a ticket.)
