Modest Mouse

Playing at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 19, in the Grand Sierra Resort’s Grand Theatre, Modest Mouse is one of the most successful and influential indie-rock outfits to emerge from the fertile musical landscape of the 1990s – are coming to the Grand Theatre for one exciting night of musical genius.

Starting as an underground cult favorite, the band found mainstream commercial success with their platinum-selling album, “Good News for People Who Love Bad News,” which spawned the Grammy-nominated, “Float On.” Their next album, We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank, reached No. 1 on the US Billboard 200 charts and included the hit single, “Dashboard.” After a long wait for fans, in 2015 the band released “Strangers to Ourselves,” an album which still contains the urgency and inventiveness of their earlier work.

Headed by Issac Brock, the band’s lead singer, songwriter and guitarist, the unique sound of Modest Mouse is at times intense and energetic while being grounded in introspection and fragile, off-kilter melodies.

This is a band that must be seen live! And what better venue to appreciate the great Modest Mouse than at the superb Grand Theatre.

Opener Mass Gothis is a New York City-based indie rock band led by singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist and ex-Hooray for Earth frontman, Noel Heroux.
