Michael McDonald

Michael McDonald, who boasts a brilliant career with The Doobie Brothers and as a solo artist, will appear on Friday, Aug. 18, in TJ’s Corral at the Carson Valley Inn.

After a Stint with Steely Dan, McDonald rolled with The Doobies from 1976 until 1982 as a singer, keyboardist and songwriter for hits that included “Takin’ To The Streets,” “Minute By Minute,” “What A Fool Believes” and “It Keeps You Runnin’.” His solo career blossomed in the ’80s and ’90s, with songs such as “I keep Forgettin’ ” and “Sweet Freedom,” and he also collaborated with Patti LaBelle (“On My Own”) and with James Ingram in a Grammy-winning duet (“Yah Mo Be There.”)

The blue-eyed soul singer with five Grammys has lent his voice to albums by Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin, Elton John, Joni Mitchell, Vince Gill and Grizzly Bear. He released eight studio albums, including two well-received recordings that gave new life to Motown classics.
