Kid Andersen

August 29, 2017 @ 8:00 pm - 11:30 pm

Tahoe Onstage

Kid Andersen plays for the first time with the Buddy Emmer Blues Band for Harrah’s Tuesday Night Blues.

This summer Andersen produced albums for Rick Estrin and the Nightcats and Tommy Castro and the Painkillers at his Greaseland studio in San Jose.

“Greaseland is becoming really popular, probably bordering on legendary in our little sub genre,” Estrin told Tahoe Onstage. “(Andersen) is the best engineer I’ve ever worked with.

“He’s fast. You can describe an idea for a sound and he knows what you are talking about 95 percent of the time. He knows just what to do just to get that sound. Things go quickly and he captures the feeling in the moment better than anyone I’ve ever worked with and I’ve been around a long time.”

At the age of 21, Andersen left Norway to join Terry Hanck’s band, landing him in California. Legend has it that his green card read, “Alien of Extraordinary Abilty.” He also played for several years with Charlie Musselwhite. Andersen replaced Little Charlie when he split with Estrin a few years ago.
