J BOOG will perform at 8 p.m. Friday, April 22, the Whitney Peak Hotel’s Cargo, bringing his Island and SoCal Reggae on The Resistance Tour. Tickets for the all-ages show are $20 in advance or $25 at the door. The son of a Samoan chief and the youngest of seven brothers and one sister, Jerry “J Boog” Afemata, earned his nickname from his siblings because he didn’t sit still much as a kid. Born in Long Beach and raised in Compton, he now splits time between California and Hawaii. Maoli, a Maui-based Island Reggae band, will open the show.
