Failure Machine, Spiteful Mourning

Failure Machine and Spiteful Mourning perform at 7 p.m. Friday, March 16, in The HOL, a coffee shop on Evans Avenue near the University of Nevada, Reno. Failure Machine is a Reno-based garage soul band fronted by Spencer Kilpatrick. Spiteful Mourning is made up of Innovations High School students. “They are really good,” said Kilpatrick, the school’s music instructor. “They sound like a mix of Pearl Jam and King Krule. They will play original songs they’ve written since the beginning of the school year.” The cover is $5. All of the proceeds will go to Sandy Hook Promise, which calls for common sense gun laws in light of school shootings.
