Portland, Oregon, has soul. That makes it the perfect home for the funky Dirty Revival band, which delivers generous portions of soul, hip-hop and R&B.
Dirty Revivial emerged from a basement in 2013. Two years later, it released a debut, self-titled album. On Saturday night, the band appropriately brings its “So Cold Tour” to Crystal Bay Casino, where it will perform a free Red Room show at 10 p.m. Guests must be 21 or older.
Led by the sultry vocals of Sarah Clarke and the contributions of guitarist and MC evv’n’flo (Evan Simko), the band includes and a horn section of Chris Hardin on tenor saxophone and Thomas Barber on trumpet. The septet is rounded out by Terry Drysdale on drums, Ben Turner on keyboard and Jon Shaw on bass.
“DR’s soulful sounds and energetic beats deliver an atmosphere that enraptures the audience in the dirtiest of musical revivals,” its online bio notes.
It has shared the stage with the likes of musical heavy-hitters Michael Franti, George Clinton and the Parliament Funkadelic, Sir Mix-A-Lot, Slick Rick, Nappy Roots and Gift of Gab, and has drawn influences from them as well in creating its funk- and soul-infused sound.
Its goal is simple, to produce “vibrant neo-soul for a dirty nation.”
“Let’s get Dirty!” it proclaims.
